News from the MLKCLC ~ We have received notification from the Iowa, Minnesota and North Dakota AFL-CIO State Federations that 1300 worker at American Sugar Crystal facilities in those states have been locked out of their jobs since August 1st. These workers are represented by Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers, AFL-CIO. The company has brought in replacement workers. Read More...

Thank you to all those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom. On this special day, we would like to recognize one of our own members who continues to serve. Tim Martinsen, a Captain with the SeaTac Fire Department, has served 20+ years in the Coast Guard Reserve and has traveled the world in conflict after another. The picture below shows him flying the IAFF Colors in Korea!

RSOI/Foal Eagle 2006 took place between 25–31 March 2007, with its initial focused on initial operational flow of deployed forces to Korean theater of operations (KTO). This RSOI phase incorporated receiving military units in Korea (reception); connecting units with their equipment once in country (staging); moving them into their respective strategic position within the peninsula (onward movement) and integrating newly arrived forces with the forces that are already here (integration). The Foal Eagle phase included amphibious landing involving over 3,000 U.S. Marines and Sailors as well as 1,400 ROK Marines.[20][21][22]

September 9, 2011 – As part of a comprehensive jobs proposal presented to Congress September 8, President Obama proposed spending $1 billion to protect fire fighters’ jobs and grow staffing levels. The annual Easter Egg Hunt, sponsored by IAFF Local 2919, SeaTac Fire Department and the City of SeaTac, will take place at Angle Lake Park.
Arrive early as the event shouldn't last more than 5 minutes as kids hunt for candy and toy filled eggs! |
